It was such a treat to join Barbara Vaughn (affectionately known as "BV" to her family and friends), at the Dolby Chadwick Gallery in San Francisco last evening. The reception celebrated the commencement of her exhibition titled "On the Surface" at the gallery, showcasing a new collection of her exquisite photographs. From her travels across the globe (such as the Greek isle of Paros to Martha's Vineyard to Amsterdam), BV has captured the reflections of various bodies of water that come to life in the form of abstract patterns and shapes, akin to those you might find in the work of Pablo Picasso or perhaps Henri Matisse. They are truly statement pieces that will leave the admirer inquisitive and transformed to a state of bliss. Be certain to view her work at Dolby Chadwick Gallery, on display until May 30th. Bravo, BV!! xx
Above: A personal favorite, Apokopes 1, a piece influenced by the modernist sculptor Alexander Calder.
